Your keys are hiding from you again

Posted 18/5/2026

The moment you grab your bag and head for the door, your keys decide it's the perfect time to become invisible. Not misplaced. Not forgotten. Invisible. Like they attended some kind of advanced disappearing school and graduated with honors.

Keys don't go missing randomly. They go missing with intention. They wait for the exact moment your heart rate is already climbing, your coat is already on, and you're already three minutes behind schedule. That's when they make their move.

Scientists would probably call it chaos theory. Normal people call it Monday. And the only logical explanation that holds up under pressure is that you put them somewhere deeply creative at 6:47 in the morning before your brain had fully loaded.

The real culprit is not gremlins, bad luck, or a disorganized junk drawer. The real culprit is attempting any task of importance before coffee has entered the picture. Keys go on hooks when you're caffeinated. Keys go on top of the fridge, inside a shoe, or next to the dog bowl when you're running on fumes and good intentions.

Coffee first. Then the world makes sense. Keys appear. Decisions improve. You might even remember where you parked the car last Thursday.

Come join the caffeinated chaos: hit ‘reply’ and let me know what’s in your brain. Seriously, I will accept bouquets, bricks, the odd accolade, etc.
