There's a perfectly good explanation for why spiderwebs find your face more than anyone else's, and it has nothing to do with spiders holding a grudge (probably).
Your brain, when running on low energy, basically skips the "scan the environment" step entirely. It's too busy keeping your eyes open and reminding your legs how walking works. So when a spider spends all night engineering a masterpiece right at face level across your favourite path, your sluggish awareness just walks straight through it like it owns the place.
And the spider? Devastated.
Meanwhile, the person behind you, the one who somehow dodged it completely, they had two cups of coffee before leaving the house. Their eyes were sharp, their reflexes were ready, and their brain was actually processing the world around them instead of buffering like a 2009 laptop.
Coffee doesn't just wake you up. It genuinely sharpens how you read your surroundings. Reaction time improves, attention tightens up, and suddenly you're the person who notices things (webs, birds, that neighbour who's been watching you from their window for a suspicious amount of time).
Your awareness goes from foggy guesswork to something resembling actual function.
