Your phone knows you need coffee

Posted 26/2/2026

Your phone is basically a psychic with a data plan.

One minute you're daydreaming about a proper flat white and the next thing you know, every ad on your screen is screaming about artisan beans and pour-over techniques. You didn't search for it. You didn't mention it out loud. But somehow, someway, your little rectangular overlord knew exactly what you were craving.

Is it listening to your thoughts? Reading your brainwaves through the screen? Or maybe it's just noticed that every morning at 7:43 you start typing slower and making more typos, which clearly means you need caffeine intervention. Either way, the algorithm's got your number.

And here's the weird part. Sometimes it's not even wrong. Like when you're sitting there, zombie-mode engaged, and suddenly an ad for the coffee shop down the street pops up. You weren't planning to go. But now? Now you're thinking about it. The phone planted the seed and you're about to water it with espresso.

It's like having a really pushy friend who always knows what you want before you do. Except this friend lives in your pocket and tracks your every move. Creepy? Maybe. Helpful? Absolutely.

The universe works in mysterious ways. Sometimes it's a gentle nudge from fate. Sometimes it's a targeted advertisement based on seventeen different data points about your browsing history. Same difference really.

If your phone's already telling you that you need better coffee content, maybe just listen to it this time.

Today’s coffee notes:

If you’re like me, your phone is your alarm clock. When it goes off, it’s time to get out of bed and kick ass. These days, my morning cuppa is actually the Kick Ass blend from Kicking Horse Coffee (https://kickinghorsecoffee.ca/ ), roasted proudly in the Canadian Rockies. In their own words: “Our coffee may come from far and wide, but its journey always heads north—where we roast 100% of our beans on Canadian soil. From the first sip to the last kick, our roots run deep. The Canadian Rockies aren't just where we started from - their spirit is brewed into every cup. Kicking Horse Coffee is loudly, proudly, wildly roasted in Canada.”
