Well, not pairs exactly. That's the whole problem. They take ONE sock from each pair like some kind of twisted game show where everybody loses. Scientists will bore you to death talking about lint traps and static cling and how socks just get stuck behind the drum. But we all know what's really happening.
Your dryer opened a tiny portal to another dimension and the only way to keep it running is feeding it single socks. Like some kind of household appliance tribute system. The portal guardians don't want matching sets because that would be too easy. They want chaos. They want you standing there at 7am holding two completely different socks wondering if anyone will notice if you wear one black and one navy blue.
And the portals get hungrier when you're in a rush. Running late for work? That's when three socks vanish. Didn't have your morning coffee yet? Make that five socks. The dryer can sense your weakness like a predator stalking tired and confused prey.
The missing sock problem gets worse when your brain isn't firing on all cylinders. Everything in the morning feels like a conspiracy when you're foggy and under-caffeinated. But here's the thing about morning chaos, most of it can be calmed down with one simple fix.
Start your day with a proper cup of coffee before you even think about doing laundry. A solid morning routine with good coffee makes the sock situation feel less like a personal attack from your appliances. Won't bring back your missing socks but at least you'll have the mental clarity to accept your fate.
